Voter registration deadline approaches

FLORENCE—The voter registration deadline for the general election in November is Saturday, Florence County Elections & Voter Registration Executive Director David Alford said.

Only registered voters who live within Olanta town limits and Florence School District 4 will be eligible to vote Nov. 3, Alford said.

Olanta mayoral candidates are Betty M. Sims, the incumbent, and Jimmy McCutcheon. Olanta Town Council candidates are Alice C. Smalls, Eric L. Evans and Tommy M. Driggers Jr. Lillie Mae Joe are vying for an at-large seat on the Florence 4 board of trustees.

Voting locations for these elections are noted on voter registration cards; none have changed over the previous year, Alford said.

Those who may be eligible to vote by absentee ballot may request until 5 p.m. Oct. 30 for a mailed paper ballot by calling Florence County Elections & Voter Registration at (843) 665-3094.
