A Hartsville man accused of shooting another man as he rode a bicycle Monday has turned himself in to deputies, according to a press release issued Tuesday by the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
Antonio Brown is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and criminal conspiracy.
Deputies said the incident happened at about 4:30 p.m when Brown and another suspect pulled their vehicle beside the bicyclist, shot him, then drove away.
The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The shooting is thought to be the result of an ongoing dispute between the suspects and the victim, Darlington County Sheriff’s Capt. Andy Locklair said.
Deputies are still trying to identify the second suspect in the crime.
Brown turned himself into deputies Tuesday afternoon and remains in custody at the Darlington County jail awaiting a bond hearing.
Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 398-4501 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.

I don’t think that crime knows any color - it’s the individual that is commiting the crime. I don’t care if you are white, black, yellow, green or from Mars - if you do the crime - you better be willing to serve the time! You will get caught sooner or later! This guy knew exactly what he was going to do! Did he actually think that violence was going to settle this matter between him and the other person? He did have the good sense to turn himself in!
He should be voted most photogenic of the Most Wanted List!
This guy looks like a real smart fellow.Im sure he will go far in life.
Whats a shame is some newspapers will not even give a description anymore because of offending someone.Check out the MOST WANTED section in todays sc state paper 10/20/09.Now tell me if they are really doing a service to the citizens of sc and helping the POLICE.
meethinx has hit the nail on the head. Racial profiling doesn’t exist… it’s simply PROFILING. If the numbers show that the majority of the crimes are committed in a certain area by a certain group of people, that is where the Police should be concentrating. Screaming racism isn’t gonna make the problem go away.
Whoever it is they need to be in jail.. Black or white.
Oh well, here we go again… The descriptions of the majority of the suspects in violent crimes this year could almost be generic. In this report it is just “two black men”. But we’ve read “two black males wearing black clothing and hoodies”, or “two black teens with pistols”, or “two black males between the ages of 18-24”, or “the suspects were black and believed to be gang-related”, etc. etc. etc. Now, before someone gets a kneejerk reaction and calls me rascist. Yes, there have been white suspects involved in violence also in our area, but not even close to the numbers of blacks. Why is that?
