Two Hartsville residents were arrested after a Thursday morning drug raid, according to a Darlington County Sheriff’s Office press release.

Charles Stukes, 22, of 422 Brewer Ave., and Shonda Samuel, 25, of 907 Lynnhaven Drive, each are charged with trafficking crack cocaine and simple possession of marijuana, according to the release.

The county’s combined drug unit conducted the search of Samuel’s residence, where they found nearly 22 grams of crack cocaine, 3 grams of marijuana and a small amount of cash, as well as what appeared to be a small-caliber hand gun that was later identified as a pellet gun.

“This case is still under investigation and we may have more charges on the two before it ends,” Sheriff Wayne Byrd said in the release.

The suspects remain in the Darlington County Detention Center awaiting bond hearings.

To Bruh:  I think that you and I are on the same page and want the drug trafficers caught.  But sometimes you have to start at the bottom and work your way up.  I really don’t know about drugs and this maybe a small amount of drugs - but it is still drugs and still illegal.  Whatever the cops do to take the drugs off the streets is commendable!  These postings will let the community to know the people that are dealing with drugs and will be more inclined to watch out for them.  This is awareness.  People should be aware of their surroundings and report suspicious behavior.  This is the only way to take the control of the streets.  People in the community must get involved and help the cops.  You and I can post our comments all night long - but until we get involved and keep watch - these drug people will continue to prey on the people. Then they will steal, prey on the elderly to get money and eventually kill.

Well what do you expect the cops to do?  This was a drug bust and they need to be praised even if it is a small bust.  Maybe if all of the small busts were reported - then the people of the Pee Dee area would know the people that traffic drugs and beware of their activities.  You know the flak that the cops receive.  This may be little in your eyes and others - but it is an accomplishment in my eyes.  I still say that all of the busts should be reported so that the community will be informed.  I don’t know anything about drugs - so the amount is unknown to me.  You say it is little.  But where does the little go into the big?

You hace a good point but lil bust like this happen every other day in the PeeDee.  The local news would be overflowing with lil drug related stories like this if all tiny bust were reported

I think that the little busts should be posted so that everyone will know what is going on in their community and beware.  Sometimes, the small busts can lead to the larger ones.  When people are aware - they are more prepared.  Then if they see suspicious behavior they will be more inclined to make a call to the cops.  I have always heard that “it is better to be safe than sorry”.
