FLORENCE—Three people were arrested after a methamphetamine lab bust at a Florence hotel on Friday.

Authorities from several agencies were involved in dismantling the lab at the Red Roof Inn on David McLeod Boulevard.

The individuals arrested were Jill Ellen Austin, 31, of Florence; Charles Michael Medlin, 34, of Sumter; and Chrystalina Marie Tyree, 21,of Shaw Air Force Base. Authorities have charged them with manufacturing methamphetamines and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamines.

The investigation was initiated by the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office and the State Law Enforcement Division. Authorities had a warrant to arrest an individual for meth-related offenses. They determined that individual was at the hotel.

Officers from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, Horry County Police Department and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office dismantled the lab on Friday afternoon.

This is not even a chip off of the ice berg.  There is so much out there, and it’s getting worse by the day.  The unfortunate thing is—this is what the young children of the future have to look forward to.
