MARION – A Nichols man has been convicted in the deaths of two people at a Nichols night club in September of 2007.

Joshua Lee Phillips, 21, of Green Sea was convicted of murder and armed robbery by a Marion County jury of shooting deaths Larry Maltonia Clark of Fork and Angelique Diane Bynum of Myrtle Beach in September 2007 at the Nichols Nightlife Club, 5646 Kemper Road.

Phillips was sentenced by Judge Ralph King Anderson Jr. to two consecutive life terms on two murder charges, 30 years each on two armed robbery charges to serve concurrently with the life sentences and five years for possession of a weapon while committing a violent crime to run concurrently with the other charges.

The incident took place about 5 a.m. on Sept. 29, 2007.

Two minutes to pray, a rope and a tree should be forthcoming. But we know it will take intestinal fortitude for the jury + 15 years or so, + endless appeals offered by ACLU and friends + a cost of millions by the State to deliver final justice. Is it worth it ? you bet!
