Six people face drug charges in Bennettsville

Bennettsville police have arrested six people as a result of an undercover drug investigation that began Aug. 1.

Police said the investigation was prompted by several complaints of drug activity at a local motel. They made undercover crack cocaine and marijuana buys from several people Thursday night; six of them were arrested and charged with distribution of crack cocaine and distribution of crack cocaine within a half mile of a playground.

The investigation is continuing, and more arrests and charges are possible.

The six people arrested Thursday night remain in custody at the Marlboro County Detention Center in Bennettsville awaiting bond hearings.
