Second suspect arrested in Florence knife attack
A Florence man was arrested Thursday after police said he and another suspect broke into a Vista Street home and attacked a man with a knife earlier this month, Florence Police Lt. James Rodgers said.
Carlos Sante Robinson, 28, of 815 Waverly Ave., Apt. F, is charged with first-degree burglary and assault and battery with intent to kill, Florence County Detention Center bookings reports show.
The attack happened July 3 when two suspects kicked the home’s back door in and began assaulting the victim, according to police reports.
Police said the victim fought his attackers through several rooms in the house and managed to force them outside, throwing dishes at them as they fled the scene.
The victim told police he knew at least one of his attackers because they were fighting each other earlier that day, and believed the attack was retaliatory.
Renard Burgess, 41, of 225 E. Marion St., was arrested July 3 and faces the same charges as Robinson, Rodgers said.
Both suspects remain in custody at the Effingham jail. Robinson is scheduled to have a bond hearing before a circuit court judge.
