Scranton man gets more than four years for gun charge
Florence County Detention Center
Kevin Wayne Roark
A Scranton man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins said in a press release.
U.S. District Judge R. Bryan Harwell sentenced 38-year-old Kevin Wayne Roark to 57 months in prison. He faced life in prison after pleading guilty to the crime in October.
Florence County sheriff’s deputies seized three firearms from Roark’s residence last year when they responded to a domestic violence incident. After physically assaulting his wife, Roark pointed a shotgun at her and threatened to kill her.
Roark has previous felony convictions, including a 2002 criminal domestic violence conviction.
The case, which also was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Rose Mary Parham of the Florence office as part of Project Cease Fire, an initiative of the United States Attorneys Office targeting gun crimes.
