School to have second annual gala fundraiser
All Saints’ Episcopal Day School will host its second annual Gala Fundraiser to help the school raise funds to continue its mission of improving the school’s academic and extracurricular environment.
The gala and auction will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday at Florence Country Club. Belle Zeigler, the school’s director of development, said this year’s black-tie optional event will include both a live and silent auction, which will feature several donated items including exotic trips, vacation homes, original works of art, furniture, guided hunts and catered parties.
About 250 items were donated by local retailers and vendors, Zeigler said.
The gala also includes hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and music from City Lights, a variety band based in Columbia.
Anyone who attends the gala will have the opportunity to win a customized golf cart valued at $5,000, a Tahitian black pearl and diamond pendant valued at $1095 and a $400 gas card by purchasing a $10 raffle ticket.
The school also held a Pairings Party and charity golf tournament Thursday and Friday, respectively, as part of the school’s annual fundraising activities.
This year, the school’s charity golf tournament, which took place at the Country Club of South Carolina, featured mulligan options, a birdie to eagle contest, a closest to the pin (on the island in the lake) contest, and hole-in-one contest.
All proceeds from the annual fundraiser will benefit the school’s “Building Strong Foundations” capital campaign. Capital campaign funds are used for construction of new facilities and the improvement of existing facilities on campus.
Zeigler said Phase 2 and 3 of the school’s facility projects are almost complete. Phase 2 and 3 of the school’s facilities project includes construction of a new media center and administrative offices, a covered pavilion, a courtyard, and a multi-purpose building that will house a new kitchen/cafeteria, full basketball and volleyball courts, and a performance stage and theater.
The school recently has the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the multi-purpose building. The new media center facility is expected to be completed this fall.
In 2004, the school completed Phase I of the campaign, when the school opened a 22,000-square-foot classroom building that includes 22 classrooms.
