Two men thought to be responsible for a home invasion, a pistol-whipping and the lockdown of schools in Darlington were arrested Friday after a brief manhunt, Darlington County Sheriff’s Capt. Andy Locklair said.

Bobby Streeter, 22, of Cheraw was arrested Friday at about 1:18 p.m. after deputies searching for two home invasion suspects stopped his vehicle.

Locklair said Streeter’s passenger, Derrick Ramone Lee, jumped out of the car during the traffic stop and fled from the scene, starting a manhunt that lasted the entire afternoon.

Officials at Rosenwald Elementary School decided to place the campus on lockdown during the manhunt.

Classes dismissed at the normal time but law enforcement officers were at the school as a precaution, he said.

Lee was captured by deputies in Society Hill at about 7 p.m.

The two men are accused of breaking into a home, pistol whipping the home owner and fleeing the scene with his belongings, Locklair said.

First-degree burglary and assault charges are pending against both suspects.
