Rep. Williams to have press conference on stimulus

State Rep. Robert Williams of Darlington will have another press conference Friday regarding federal stimulus funds for South Carolina.
It will take place at 12:30 p.m. at the Florence City-County Complex, 180 N. Irby St.
A “We Demand a Better Economy” rally is planned for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at the Florence City-County Complex, 180 N. Irby St., Florence.
Among the topics set to be addressed are unemployment, company closings, health care, foreclosures, education and roads and bridges.
Ty’Sheoma Bethea, a student at J.V. Martin Junior High School in Dillon who wrote a letter about conditions at the school that earned her a ticket to witness President Barack Obama’s speech to Congress on Feb. 24, is scheduled to attend Saturday’s event.
Organizers of the event said they are asking President Obama to oversee the stimulus plan for South Carolina and “make our state delegation do what’s right,” according to a flier.
