An Aug. 13 robbery of a Jackson Hewitt Tax Service in Florence was all a set up orchestrated by a former employee and her estranged husband, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.

Police said Donna Stevens,39, of 3040 Larkspur Drive in Florence conspired with Ryan Stevens,37, of 1217 Gray Road in Summerton and a third person to set up a robbery at the Jackson Hewitt where she was employed.

Investigators said Moses Oliver, 45, of 3193 Liberty Hill Road in Summerton acted as the robbery suspect in the scheme.
Donna Stevens then told police she’d been robbed while leaving the store to make a large deposit , Raines said.

The Stevens were arrested Nov. 3 in Clarendon County and transported back to Florence.
Donna Stevens is charged with conspiracy, breach of trust $5,000 or more and filing a false report of a felony—a felony charge, Raines said.

“If you falsely report a felony then you are charged with a felony,” he said. “If you falsely report a misdemeanor, then you are charged with a misdemeanor.”

Ryan Stevens is charged with conspiracy and grand larceny value $5,000 or more.

Oliver was arrested Nov. 10 and charged with conspiracy and grand larceny, $5,000 or more.

Detention information wasn’t available on the suspects.
