Pee Dee Indian Nation tribal rolls to close

Tribal members have until Aug. 1 to recertify their membership in thePee Dee Indian Nation of Upper South Carolina, Chief Carolyn Bolton-Chavis said.

The Pee Dee Indian Nation will be submitting information for full federal recognition this summer. Once that information is submitted, the nation will close the rolls and stop enrolling new members until further notice.

Current members of the nation should have a Tribal Identification Card with their enrollment number and photograph on it. Enrolled members who do not have a photograph Tribal Identification Card should call Bolton-Chavis at (843) 586-9675 to make an appointment to have their cards made.

There is a $5 fee for a new Tribal Identification Card with photograph. Enrolled members need a driver’s license or picture identification and a birth certificate listing their parents’ names in order to prove their identity. Tribal Identification Cards are free to members age 62 or older.
