Paws to the Rescue Animal Shelter of Marion County, is searching for good homes for cats and dogs.

The animal shelter changed ownership about a year ago and since that time they have had 2,450 animals arrive at the shelter.

Paws to the Rescue has 22 pens for dogs and 20 pens for cats.

People interested in adopting a pet must fill out an application.

The shelter will help families select a pet that is right for them.

“Are they looking for a specific breed, size, age?  We try to help them pick out what they are looking for to match their family. They are welcome to bring in their other pets to see if they get along,” Executive Director Jen Nall, said.

Each month the Star and Enterprise will feature one dog and cat looking for a good home.

“They don’t have a voice, they can’t speak for themselves. They are so helpless its just sad,” Nall said.

Tiny is about three-years-old; he is an indoor cat.  He came to the shelter after his previous owner passed away.

This dog currently has no name; she is about three-years-old.  Her previous owners left her at the shelter during the middle of the night in July.  This Chihuahua-Terrier mix gets along well with other dogs and would be a good pet for someone looking for a lap dog.
