Pamplico Town Council OKs annexation for homes

Pamplico Town Council has approved the annexation of 4½ acres intended for future homes within town limits.

Council voted unanimously Monday to bring the property into the town, Mayor Gene Gainey said. Homeaid Housing Solutions, LLC, requested the annexation. The long-range plan for the property on West Sixth Avenue includes as many as 10 new houses, Gainey said last month.

Council also voted to spend $8,500 for a dump truck from Carolina Eastern Professional Turf LLC, Gainey said.

In purchasing the truck, the town has received approval to use $6,000 of federal grant money left over after building the town’s new wastewater treatment plant, Gainey said.

Pamplico’s public works department will use the truck for hauling heavy equipment on a trailer for maintenance at the wastewater treatment plant — a 10-mile round trip from town — as well as hauling dirt and gravel for repairs around town, Gainey said.
