A Pamplico man was arrested Thursday after deputies found several marijuana plants in his home, Florence County Sheriff’s Capt. Mike Nunn said.

Charles Richard Thomas II, 35, of 3565 S. Pamplico Highway is charged with simple assault and manufacturing marijuana, Florence County Detention Center booking reports show.

Deputies went to the suspect’s home to serve a warrant on a simple assault charge and found five marijuana plants in his home, Nunn said. The estimated street value of the plants is $20,000.

Thomas remains in custody at the jail in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.

What happened to shock and awe? Get some police scanners and follow real crime. It was probably ditch weed worth about $500.
