One person dies in Johnsonville crash

One person was killed and another one injured Friday during a two-vehicle crash near Johnsonville, said S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Bob Beres.

Patrick Oneal, 16, of Johnsonville died at the scene, Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said.

The crash happened at about 6:05 p.m. on Half Moon Road, Beres said.

Oneal was driving a 1993 Nissan west on Second Neck Road and disregarded a stop sign while making a right turn and crossed over the center line, striking a 2006 Chevrolet truck driven by a Johnsonville woman, Beres said.

Oneal was killed while the woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She was wearing a seat belt, Beres said. The crash remains under investigation by the S.C. Highway patrol.
