Effingham man dies in traffic collision

An Effingham man died after a two-vehicle collision in Florence County on Tuesday night.

George R. Andrews, 56, died of injuries suffered in the crash about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at an area hospital, Florence County Coroner M.G. “Bubba” Matthews said.

It happened about 6 p.m. when the pickup truck Andrews was driving slammed into the rear of a farm truck that had slowed to make a turn off Spring Branch Road, according to S.C. Highway Patrol reports.

The crash remains under investigation.
