Reader Reactions
The story should have named which trailer park. Olanta is filled with trailer parks, that really need to be leveled and cleaned up. It’s a shame this small town filled with wealthy senior citizens have to deal with this kind of crap. Most of the trailer parks in Olanta are filled with gang members and drug dealers. It wasn’t like they caught an elite member of society. His last name is Hickson and he is probably related to the Hickson who killed Samantha Brayboy. I don’t feel sorry for anyone who commits such a vile act on another human being. First hundred miles of the way, why was she selling the watch! Probably to get money to buy crack. A crime within a crime. Was the watch stolen? So much of the story is left out to keep the readers minds just rolling with imaginative thoughts. No one will ever know except the two of them. As Paul Harvey used to say, “Now for the rest of the story”. We will always be waiting.
Something doesnt add up with this story.
Nothing will ever justify the physical or sexual assault of a female or male. Why was there no more investigative reporting done in this article. It was a sensational story to hear that someone has been sexually assaulted but what else is there to this story other than the initial embarassment to the suspect being charged, not yet found guilty. Why did the “victim” seek him out to but a watch, had he bought things from her in the past? When was the last time you knocked on someone door to sell a watch? This a serious issue. A man has be charged with a criminal sexual offense for which he could be sentenced to 30 years in prison. Don’t you want to know more? Or is this another case that has served its purpose being a sensational story for the reporter and it does not matter that this case like so many others will be reduced in charges or dismissed because the Solictor is not going to embarass himself in court with such a case. Come on reporter, tell the whole story. You know that this is a man on trial who if convicted or not won’t be able to secure a decent job to provide for himself and his family because of this charge. To the victim, if he did it make him pay because nothing will ever justify the physical or sexual assault of a female or male. If he didn’t,don’t make him suffer this at such a young age. We don’t know him but we are sure he has something to offer to society and his family. Don’t take away what chance he has to be a provider.
