Miss Florence Bree Boyce talks to more than 300 children at All Saints Episcopal Day School, Monday, November 9, 2009, about making good choices about eating and to exercise daily. Boyce used to weigh 230 pounds and is almost to her goal of 100 pounds.
On Monday morning, November 9, 2009, Miss Florence Bree Boyce kicked off her campaign called “Eating Healthy, Fighting Obesity” at All Saints Episcopal Day School.
Boyce spoke to more than 300 students about how to be active and make good decisions when it comes to eating. Obesity is an issue that is close to her heart. She said that it is important to live everyday, to exercise and get some type of physical activity in and to eat your fruits and vegetables.
“I have struggled in so many ways and I would hate to see any of you struggle the way I did,” Boyce said tearfully while speaking to the children Monday. She used to weigh 230 pounds and to date has lost 84 pounds, of her 110 pound weight loss goal, through eating healthy and regular exercise.
Boyce is a graduate of West Florence High School and a sophomore at Francis Marion University. She was crowned Miss Florence on October 17, 2009, and will compete for Miss South Carolina on July 3, 2010.
