Deputies have arrested a man accused of shooting another man near Bennettsville, Marlboro County Sheriff’s Investigator Jamie Seales said.

Levander Jones Jr., 50, of 547 Marvin Quick Road faces a count of assault and battery with intent to kill, Seales said.

The shooting, which happened just before midnight Sunday, stemmed from a dispute the men had the previous night, Seales said.

The victim was shot twice, once in the arm and once in the leg, and has been taken to a Chapel Hill, N.C., hospital for treatment, Seales said. Seales didn’t know the victim’s condition, he said.

Jones was released from jail Monday on a $20,000 personal recognizance bond, which requires no money be posted.
