A man tracked to Florence was indicted Wednesday by a federal grand jury for failing to register under the Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act, U.S. Attorney W. Walter Wilkins said in a press release.
Federal authorities allege that based on 47-year-old Henry Davis’ prior criminal record, he was required to register as a convicted sex offender in South Carolina after traveling to Florence from Connecticut in March.
Davis faces a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison if convicted.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshal Service and assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney William E. Day II of the Florence office for prosecution.
