Lamar man dies in Lee County crash

A Lamar man died Wednesday after he lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole, S.C. Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Joseph Robertson said.

Bobby Fortune, 55, of Honeysuckle Lane died at the scene of the crash, Lee County Deputy Coroner Larry Logan said.

The crash happened about 8:30 a.m. on Lee State Park Road, about a mile west of the Darlington County line, he said.

Fortune was driving a 2005 Pontiac sedan when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road, struck a utility pole and then rolled several times.

The crash remains under investigation by the highway patrol, Robertson said.
