A man faces charges of stealing a vehicle from a used-car lot less than a year after his arrest in a burglary at the same business, Kingstree Police Chief Robert Ford said.

Demetric Nelson, 20, of 64 Dezine Ave. in Kingstree faces one count each of grand larceny and second-degree burglary, Ford said.

Nelson is accused of breaking into East Main Motors in Kingstree between midnight and 1 a.m. Sunday, taking a set of car keys and stealing a 1997 Ford Taurus, Ford said. The suspect was arrested the following day while driving the car around Lake City, Ford said.

Nelson, who is in custody awaiting a bond hearing on Sunday’s charges, had been out on bond for the same charges related to a previous incident at the used car lot, Ford said.
