Harvest Hope to have open house

Harvest Hope Food Bank’s Pee Dee branch will have an open house from 9 to 11 a.m. Nov. 6 at its distribution facility inside Pee Dee State Farmers Market at 2513 W. Lucas St. in Florence.
Harvest Hope won’t be serving clients or distributing food during the event; instead, staff will be offering an better opportunity to spotlight operations.
“We’re certain the more people who witness first hand the scope and extent of our outreach the more they will understand the increasing need for relief people face in our community,” Harvest Hope Food Bank CEO Denise R. Holland said in a press release. “I feel anyone who visits with us and sees the enormity of our efforts to provide aid for those who slip below the poverty level will be compelled to join so many others in providing much needed contributions.”
The Pee Dee location distributes food throughout eight of the 20 counties served by Harvest Hope Food Bank: Chesterfield (13 agencies), Clarendon (12 agencies), Darlington (19 agencies), Dillon (10 agencies), Florence (63 agencies), Lee (nine agencies), Marion (eight agencies) and Marlboro (13 agencies).
