Free shoes to be distributed at back-to-school rally

State Rep. Carl L. Anderson is inviting Williamsburg County students to a “back-to-school rally and story of hope” beginning at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kingstree.

The first 1,000 children in attendance will receive a free new pair of athletic shoes and socks until the supply is exhausted at Chavis Elementary School (500 shoes) and Kingstree High School (500 shoes).

These 1,000 pairs of shoes are being provided through a partnership with Lt. Gov. André Bauer’s Office, Samaritan’s Feet, the United Way, various state agencies and local churches.
