Francis Marion University’s Gail and Terry Richardson Center for the Child will partner with Barnes & Noble to host a family fun night and book fair Friday.

The community is encouraged to visit Barnes & Noble at the Magnolia Mall in Florence between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. to help raise money for the center.

The event, which is free to the public, will feature celebrity book readings and other activities to help foster children’s love for reading as a fun and recreational activity. FMU President Dr. Fred Carter is among those who will read to children.

To participate, shoppers should either present a voucher at the time of purchase or inform the cashier that the purchase supports the book fair. With the funds raised, the center can purchase books and educational materials. The vouchers can be used from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. everywhere in the store, including the café.
