A Florence man died following an incident in the 300 block of North Dargan Street early Friday morning that ended up in the Trinity Baptist Church parking lot.

FLORENCE – A Florence man died following an incident in the 300 block of North Dargan Street early Friday morning that ended up in the Trinity Baptist Church parking lot.
Anthony D. Robinson, 26, was apparently trying to get into a vehicle when a man came up to him and shot him with a rifle, according to Florence Police Department Maj. Carlos Raines.
The suspect fled in another vehicle after the shooting, Raines said.
Bystanders tried to give Robinson CPR in the parking lot, Raines said. Robinson was pronounced dead at an area hospital about 3 a.m. Raines said.
The shooting suspect is described as a black male, six-feet tall and 160 pounds. He appeared to be about 25 years old Raines said.
The incident happened between 2-2:30 a.m., officials said.

@Everybody who is talking about this young man criminal record.The bottom line is he is dead and he is not coming back.We all have faults.He did not deserve to die,and if im not mistaking he is not the only one to die this week with a criminal record.
Well said [hunter]. in answer to part of your question, that generation of old timers had a solution for the problem. It was: Try them in the morning, hang them in the afternoon. [same day of course]. No appeal, no delay, no ACLU, no NAACP, Just a prompt carrying out of a jury verdict. It took a while, but eventually they ran out of outlaws. Boot hill was crowded on the other hand. Justice delayed is justice denied.
Nothing good ever happens at 2:30 in the morning, especially on North Dargan Street.
Police can’t stop everything, even if they are right there when it happens. Someone could still be injured or die if a determined (but deranged) person acts in such a way. Look at when president Reagan was shot (close range with a handgun) or JFK (long range with a rifle). Police everywhere in both cases. And if the shooter didn’t have a firearm, he might have simply used a brick or a boxcutter instead. No use hand-wringing over this “tragedy”, some people put themselves in the path of calamity with their actions, and sooner or later it catches up with them.
This sounds like an old western where the guys have a few drinks and then later have a shoot out! But the setting is not in a town saloon and times have updated themselves. But being gundowned and killed in the middle of the street says a lot about our civilization today! What does this say about our society today and our morals?
I am the person who posted that this man was arrested back in June. I wish now I hadn’t after reading all this. To be honest, I didn’t read what he was arrested for and my first thought was he told something he shouldn’t have. As you’ve said, maybe that’s the case maybe not but no reason to jump to ANY conclusions. He’s dead and that’s tragic. Period.

Yeah pigett No one deserves to be SHOT for nothing! even criminals who hang out after midnight with other criminals! Why did I not see you post to the any one of the stories on here lately about INNOCENT people being killed in their own home. GO OUT and SPREAD THAT MESSAGE in YOUR HOOD!!!
