A Florence man was arrested Monday after police said he severely beat a man and pulled out a woman’s hair, Florence Police Maj. Carlos Raines said.

Jimmy McKnight Jr., 30, of 1105 Hanna Drive is charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, pointing and presenting a firearm and unlawful possession of a firearm, Raines said.

Police responded to the scene on Hanna Drive where they found a man bleeding and incoherent. The man told police he “had been fighting for his life,” Raines said.

A second victim told police the suspect pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at the first victim and pulled her out her hair during a fight. Police found the weapon and arrested the suspect after they determined he was prohibited from possessing any firearms because of prior criminal convictions, Raines said.

McKnight remains in custody at the Florence County Detention Center in Effingham awaiting a bond hearing.

It was a shotgun. You should check your state laws as to how that particular weapon can be obtained by someone with gun restrictions. It seems like I’ve got some trouble that I need to be getting into.

How did this guy manage to get another gun?  If he has priors, was the info checked if he bought the gun?  It sounds to me that he got the gun illegally.  Why do these people always stay in trouble?

Sounds like self defence.
Was HE arrested for assaulting HER?
He should have been.
