A Dillon couple was injured Monday after a suspect broke into their home and assaulted them with two hand weights, Dillon Police Sgt. James “Junebug” Hayes said.

The incident happened Monday at about 8:50 p.m. at a home on East Dargan Street, he said.

The woman told police she was awaken by the intruder.

“Next thing she knew she saw a weight coming to her face,“ Hayes said.

The blow knocked the woman unconscious. After she regained consciousness, the woman went to look for husband and found him on the couch injured because he, too, had been struck by the weights, he said.

The suspect fled the scene with the male victim’s pants containing his wallet and the woman’s purse.

Police said a total of about $50 was taken from the home.

No arrest has been made.
