The S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control will hold a summer vaccination event from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 8 at its Dillon County Public Health Department, 201 W. Hampton St., Dillon.

“The event will offer all infant, child, adolescent and adult vaccines,” Krissi Lane, a registered nurse at DHEC’s Dillon County Public Health Department, said in a press release. “The event is open to everyone, but we will focus particularly on those age 11 to 18. The national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends vaccination for that age range to help prevent diseases such as, meningitis, whooping cough and cervical cancer.”

Lane said vaccines required for school admission will also be available for younger children.

“We’re offering this special Saturday clinic as an opportunity to get all recommended vaccines as it might be more convenient for families than our traditional weekday hours,” she said.

For more information, call Lane at (843) 774-5611.
