Deputies investigate sex crimes involving 12-year-old girl

Deputies are continuing to investigate a case involving seven men who they believe had sex with a 12-year-old girl, Dillon County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cliff Arnette said.

The sheriff’s office has been investigating the case for several months and have obtained arrests warrants for six of the men, Arnette said.

Dillon resident 27-year-old James Cabbagestalk was arrested in connection with a June 24 incident involving the same girl.

Deputies said the girl left her residence without her guardians’ permission and later had sex with the suspect. Cabbagestalk was arrested a short time later, Arnette said.

Investigators believe the girl told the suspect she was older than 12, Arnette said.

Cabbagestalk was released from the Dillon County Detention Center after posting bond.

The case remains under investigation, Arnette said.
