Marion County sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help to find a burglary suspect.

Shelton Sanders, 39, of 913 Gibson St., Marion, and Jeffery Sanders, 22, of 416 Withlachoochee St., Marion, were each wanted on a charge of first-degree burglary, according to a sheriff’s office press release.

Jeffery Sanders was captured early Friday afternoon, Sheriff Mark Richardson said.

Shelton Sanders is described as a black man about 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds.

Two men kicked open the back door of a residence in the West Marion community about 6 p.m. Thursday, according to the release.

When the resident was arriving home, he saw two men running from the rear of the residence. The burglars ran into the woods where deputies later found a shotgun and tools taken from the residence, according to the release

The burglars parked their car in front of the residence and the home owner took the keys out of the car so they couldn’t come back and drive away, according to the release. Deputies searched the woods with bloodhounds and tracked the suspects to a road where it’s believed they caught a ride out of the area.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (843) 423-8216 or (843) 423-8217 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.
