Deputies arrest three in Olanta-area burglary

Investigators have arrested two men in connection with a burglary at an Olanta-area residence and a third man charged with trying to sell jewelry stolen from the home, Florence County Sheriff’s Lt. Brett Camp said.

The burglary took place Sept. 10 on Hood Street, where the three suspects live, Camp said.

Deputies on Monday arrested 18-year-old Jaquan Epps of 515 S. Hood St., who faces a second-degree burglary charge, and 20-year-old Jeremy Quinyon Godfrey of 507 S. Hood St., who is charged as an accessory after the fact to a felony.

Marcus Holmes, 18, of 595 S. Hood St. was arrested Thursday and faces a second-degree burglary charge along with Epps. Both remain in custody on $15,000 bonds.

Investigators think Epps and Holmes broke into the residence and stole about $2,000 worth of jewelry as well as an iPod, a cell phone and a bottle of wine, Camp said.

They think Godfrey then sold the jewelry to a pawn shop, where authorities recovered the goods, Camp said.

Godfrey was released from jail Monday on a $5,000 personal recognizance bond, which requires no money to be posted.
