Florence businessman Lee Daugherty has been appointed to the Florence Darlington Commission for Technical Education. The commission oversees Florence-Darlington Technical College and commission members are appointed by the Florence and Darlington County legislative delegations.

Daugherty is replacing educator Mary Langston of Timmonsville, who recently retired. He is a consultant with Watersedge which assists area businesses and manufacturing companies in the field of finance.

“We are proud to have someone of Lee’s background and business sense on the board and appreciate his commitment to the students, faculty and staff of Florence-Darlington Technical College,” Dr. Charles Gould, president of Florence-Darlington Tech, said in a press release issued by the college.

Daugherty was born and raised in Florence and graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Francis Marion University. He earned his master’s degree in banking from the University of Wisconsin.

He and his wife, Melissa, have a son, Jack Riley, 7.
