Police are searching for a Florence man, as well as an unidentified man and woman, in connection with a gang-related shooting in Darlington, Darlington Police Capt. Danny Watson said.

James Mills of 109 Holloway Lane is wanted in connection with Wednesday’s shooting at 409 Guess St. where a man was shot several times in the leg, Watson said.

Police also are looking for a black man driving a red, two-door Cadillac and his passenger who is described as a white woman who is known by the name “Pebbles.” Investigators said the car was seen in the area during the incident, Watson said.

Terry Commander, 19, 2400 Bennett Drive; Yuri Williams, 18, of 201 Saleeby Loop Apt. E-9; Taquan Jackson, 19, 139 Tallulah St.; are each charged with assault with intent to kill in connection with the incident.

Tyquan Hakeem Brown, 18, of 102 Talluah St. in Darlington is charged with assault and battery with intent to kill and accessory before the fact of a felony in connection to the Guess Street shooting, Watson said.

Edwin Andrea Williamson, 17, of 553 Jessmaine St. is charged with accessory to a felony and three counts of assault and battery with intent to kill in connection with the same incident, Watson said.

If arrested, Mills likely will be charged with two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, two counts of assault with intent to kill, discharging a firearm into a dwelling and accessory after the fact to a felony, the captain said.

Investigators believe Wallace, Brown, Williamson and Commander also were involved in a July 18 incident on 120 Court St. where several shots were fired during an altercation, Watson said. No injuries were reported in that incident.

The two shootings are believed to be part of an ongoing dispute between rival gangs, Watson said.

Williamson remains in custody at the Darlington County Detention Center under a $60,000 cash or surety bond. Brown also remains in custody at the jail on a $20,000 surety bond.

Anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts is asked to call the police department at (843)495-4028 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.

Thanks for that Nick… there are these things called statistics, and they can be manipulated into showing whatever info you want them to show.
Now, sit back and think about how many cars are on the road, and how many miles each of those cars drive each year.  Of course more people are going to die in car wrecks.

yes, Nick, we understand that speeding is a crime and should be addressed by law enforcement. That’s not really the point though. The point is, since police seem to be overworked and have to meet a ticket quota, WHO is responsible for dealing with all the gang issues we have?

Copy & paste into your browser for FACTS, not speculation on which is a greater threat to your life. Twice as many people die on average from car accidents than by murder. The difference is we think “it’s expected” that people will die by vehicle crashes, and not by homicide, which in our minds is more “shocking”.

NEITHER of these is good, and police are responsible for enforcing the laws regarding BOTH. Someone who crashes a car while drunk and/or speeding into a carload of other persons (someones FAMILY) has done just as much harm as if he opened on them with an assault weapon, killing some & maiming the rest. Obviously, someone keeps whining about a ticket they got, and wants to confuse reality with their little pet peeve. Don’t believe the hype.

Swampfox hit it square.

If they don’t want to do anything about these ‘gangs’ in the area, they ought to pack them all up, drop in South Central LA or compton and let them find out what real Gangs do to the little wannabes from around here.

What they really need to do is let us citizens form legal posse’s to go take care of what the police don’t seem to be able to.  Or bring back the other old west tradition of Wanted Dead or Alive with cash rewards.  The cops feel over worked or just don’t care to go take care of the criminals because they are too busy writing tickets for people not wearing seatbelts or driving 56 in a 45…. let the citizens take care of it!!!

I too remember when Darlington was a nice place to live but our town is not alone. Any place that becomes a economic vacuum will fill it’s void with this garbage because it becomes a place that business and the powers that be don’t care about anymore. They don’t have anything to gain from a community that is not interested in bettering itself in character and standard of living. What’s left is a thug’s dream for operation without any serious threat from law enforcement or constraints on where they can roam and set up shop. Therefore it falls back to citizens to not only protect themselves but send the thugs a message that if you threaten me or my family then you may pay with your life. Firearms not only protect our families but our rights from oppression from overbearing governments as in the past. We must not ever give up our right to bear arms and have access to ammunition without being taxed to death to do so. Take note of the current administration’s desires to take that right away from us. Thugs must not decide how we live our daily lives or the quality of that life. It’s time they are afraid of the average citizen instead of the other way around. We have in popular culture not only tolerated thug/street culture but validated it into mainstream society. This is one of the biggest mistakes we have made in modern times. Unless we retake our nation and reclaim it in the name of people who believe in safety, character, achievement and justice then we will continue down this spiral. We should not placate to people just to give them an identity if it is not consistent with the values that we hold to be dear and true. They are then nothing but barbarians and a liability to our society with no desire to live a just and meaningful life. Why do we fund the lives of people who have no desire to earn their way while others work to give what they do earn to subsidize the lives of worthless parasites. If we don’t speak up and face these issues then we will be eradicated by the very people who have stolen from our pockets and violated our families. Stop the madness

Why is it only Darlington getting the spotlight?  Why isn’t this stuff being reported on in florence?  It’s happening it’s just not newsworthy.

I’m stocked up! Now we just have to keep the gov’t out of our homes. Go to http://www.senate.gov// and search for bill number: SB-2099.
Call, email and write your senators. They’re trying to un-arm us… but do the think the criminals will comply with the gun laws? NO, if this bill passes we’ll just be sitting ducks in our homes when the criminals barge in armed.

I have been in the “fed up gang” for a while now! Stock up on your guns and ammo while you still(legally)can!

I have an idea. For all of us from Darlington who are NOT in one of these thug gangs, let’s form a THIRD ‘gang’. We can be the ‘fed-up gang’. We can take Darlington back from all the little gangster thugs. Darlington used to be a nice town until it got taken over by lazy, ignorant thugs! Let’s take the town back!
