Darlington Police Chief Jay Cox was recently selected as Police Chief of the Year by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Victim Advocate Association.

According to the association’s website, it provides a means for victim advocates to gain networking opportunities, training resources, and a forum to discuss common issues and concerns.

Cox was given the award on November 6th, during the association’s annual training conference which took place in Myrtle Beach.

Officials with the Darlington Police Department say Cox was selected for the award “because of his constant and unwavering commitment to supporting victims of crimes in Darlington, SC.“

Police chiefs from across the state were nominated for the award.

Cox has been with the Darlington Police Department since 1995.
