Pearl Jeffords has worn many hats during her 30-year career at Darlington County School District: Teaching assistant, interpreter for the deaf, resource teacher, coordinating teacher, admissions coordinator, assistant principal and principal. But beginning July 1, she’ll add a new title to the list: Darlington County School District’s Benefits Coordinator. Jeffords, who currently serves as the principal of Darlington High School, will take over the position from retiring coordinator, Cathy Tyner.
“We are delighted to have Mrs. Jeffords move over to the district office as our new benefits coordinator,” said Dr. Rainey Knight, superintendent. “She is a seasoned administrator and a proven problem-solver. Her extensive knowledge of the people and programs of our district will be invaluable in her new role.”
Jeffords has been the principal of Darlington High School since 2005.
She will finish the school year at Darlington High School before moving into her new role at the district office.
“I have loved working with the students and parents of Darlington High.
I intend to work as hard on my last day at Darlington High as I did on my first,” said Jeffords. “This new job will allow me to have nights and weekends for my family and myself. I will always be a teacher at heart and I will always be a Darlington Falcon.”
The district will begin the search for a new principal for Darlington High School in January.
