Darlington County deputies shut down brothel

Two people were arrested after narcotics investigators shut down a brothel Thursday night near Darlington, Darlington County Sheriff’s Capt. Andy Locklair said.
The undercover investigation began when Sheriff Wayne Byrd received a complaint Thursday about Pit Stop Number 2, an adult video store, on the U.S. 52 Bypass outside Darlington, Locklair said.
About 8 p.m., investigators arrested 33-year-old Alice Weatherington of 221 Ridge Road, Lot 213, Hubert, N.C., and 44-year-old Charles Devon McRae of 7058 Bethel Road, Florence, Locklair said.
Weatherington faces a prostitution and narcotics violation charge, while McRae is charged with operating a brothel, Locklair said.
Both are scheduled to have bond hearings at 4 p.m. Friday and remain in custody at the Darlington County Detention Center, the captain said.
