DARLINGTON – Several community groups teamed up Friday to celebrate back to school season and hand out 85 bags of school supplies to those who needed them.

The Darlington City Police Department with the help of Piggly Wiggly, Darlington High School Junior ROTC and The Darlington Housing Authority hosted a Back to School Bash at the Darlington swimming pool.

This is an ongoing effort that helps students who are in need of school supplies to get the year started.

More than 100 people attended the bash and 85 bags of school supplies were handed out.

“The Darlington Police are here for much more than just enforcing the law we are a part of the community which has a goal of making our citizen’s lives safer and ensuring success with all tools at our disposal,” according to a release on the event.
