A chicken bog benefit for Carl D. Lee Jr. sponsored by the Cooks for Christ will be Thursday at the West Florence Fire Station.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. Plates are $6 each. Lunch and dinner can be delivered for orders of seven plates or more.

Lee was diagnosed with Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD) in 2007. Since his diagnosis, he has had surgery on both carotid arteries and bypass surgery of aorta and femoral artery in both legs. Then, he was infected with a deadly staph infection. He was on antibiotics for eight months and will be taking oral antibiotics for the rest of his life.

He is facing possible amputation of both legs. He has been unable to work since 2007. Cooks for Christ is raising funds to pay for medical expenses not covered by insurance and help with outstanding debt.
