The local band Southern Blue will be performing in the Dusty Hills Country Club on Oct. 11. The event is a fundraiser for the Marion County Animal Shelter, now under the management of Paws to the Rescue.
Paws to the Rescue will be having a fundraiser benefit on Oct. 11. The group’s first fundraiser for the Marion County Animal Shelter will be at Dusty Hills Country Club from 4-9 p.m. and will feature raffles and silent auctions, a barbeque plate dinner beginning at 5 p.m. ($6 each), and dancing to the sounds of the local group Southern Blue from 6-9 p.m.
Anyone wishing to donate an auction item can contact Jennifer Nall, director of Paws to the Rescue, at (843) 251-8390 or the shelter at (843) 423-8370.
Event organizers say funds are desperately needed for vaccinations, dewormers, medications, heartworm and feline leukemia tests, and spay and neuter surgeries. In addition to showing support for offering better care for the county’s homeless animal population, organizers say benefit attendees can also bring needed shelter supplies, such as a refrigerator in which to store vaccinations, galvanized buckets, large stainless steel dog dishes, cat litter; collars, leashes and toys, copy machine, copy paper, postage stamps, file folders, four-drawer locking filing cabinets, bleach, paper towels, towels and laundry detergent.
