College of Charleston student wins Miss Darlington

A College of Charleston student who was third runner-up in Miss South Carolina two years ago was crowned Miss Darlington on Saturday night.
Morgan Smoak won a $500 scholarship and prize package during the pageant at St. John’s Elementary School Auditorium in Darlington.
The 2005 Brookland-Cayce High School graduate won the swimsuit, talent, evening gown and interview awards to advance to the Miss South Carolina pageant in July. The former Miss Coastal Carolina’s talent was clogging.
Cheraw resident and University of South Carolina student Sarah-Frances Parker was runner-up.
Darlington resident and Florence-Darlington Technical College student Madison Privette was second runner-up.
A 16-year-old student at the Byrnes Schools won the Outstanding Teen pageant. Caroline Byrd, 16, performed a tap dance in the talent portion of the contest.
The teen runner-up was Brooke Powers, a Lexington High student. Second runner-up was Charity O’Neal, student at Trinity Collegiate School.
