Coker College hires new evening program dean
HARTSVILLE — Dr. Barbara Jackowski has been named the Associate Dean for Coker College’s Evening and Extended Studies Program. She was formerly the Director of the Program for Accelerated College Education (PACE) at California State University East Bay in Hayward, Ca.
At Coker, Jackowski will oversee the operations and growth of the college’s evening program that enrolls over 460 adults in Hartville on the college’s main campus, in Cheraw at Northeastern Technical College, and in Lake City and Mullins.
“We are extremely glad Barbara is able step into this leadership position for our evening program,” said Dr. Robert Wyatt, president of the college. “Her background and experience will be a benefit to Coker as well as to adult higher education in the state.”
At California State University, Jackowski’s responsibilities included oversight of the PACE curriculum and schedules at four locations, major program development and planning, and serving as the primary liaison with academic departments. She also defined the future direction of PACE and coordinated outreach and recruitment efforts.
“Coker’s evening program is exceptional,” said Jackowski, “and I look forward to being a part of its future growth and success.”
Jackowski holds a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Colorado State University. She earned her master’s and bachelor’s degrees in speech communication from California State University Hayward.
