Chesterfield woman faces child abuse charge

A Chesterfield woman has been arrested on an unlawful conduct toward a child charge, Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office reports show.

Amanda Martin, 27, is accused of exposing her 5-year-old child to a relative who spanked and whipped the child to a point that constitutes physical abuse. Deputies were made aware of the situation while working on another investigation in late August.

Martin is in custody at the Chesterfield County Detention Center, while he child is in the protective custody of family members.
