Bennettville police identify murder suspect

Bennettsville police have identified the man they said is responsible for Tuesday’s shooting death of a 22-year-old man.

Kenwood Bright, 20, is wanted on a murder charge in connection with the death of Christopher Antonio Deas, Bennettsville Police Chief Larry McNeil said.

The shooting happened about 8 p.m. on Hudson Street in Bennettsville. Deas was standing at one of the windows of the suspect’s car when he was shot, McNeil said.

Victoria Knight, 21, of Hamlet, N.C., was arrested Wednesday and is charged with accessory after the fact to a felony, McNeil said. She remains in custody at the Marlboro County Detention Center on a $25,000 surety bond.
