Investigators are looking for the man who robbed a Dillon bank Thursday afternoon.

It happened at the Wachovia bank branch at 601 U.S. 301 North about 3 p.m. Thursday, according to Dillon police reports.

A man walked in, approached the tellers’ counter and demanded $100 bills with the bands around the stacks removed. After being given about $4,500, including two $50 bills in bait money, the robber fled through the back door of the bank to the back of the Eckerd drug store parking lot next door, where an employee told police she’d seen a man fitting the robber’s description getting into a green Toyota Four-Runner and leaving the area.

No one was injured during the robbery, and the suspect isn’t believed to have been armed, police said.

The supect is described as a white man last seen wearing a light-colored baseball cap, white T-shirt and dark pants.

About 15 minutes before the bank robbery, the same suspect tried to rob the First Citizens Bank bank branch a few blocks away, Dillon Police Sgt. James “Junebug” Hayes said. The suspect walked into that bank and started to hand the bank teller a note, but apparently changed his mind after spotting a Brinks Security guard.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call the police department at (843) 774-0051 or the state Crime Stoppers hotline at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.

WOW, sometimes I think that the media gives out to much information. This article states that two $50 bills in bait money was given. After this person reads a paper or see the news I’m sure he will burn the BAIT MONEY. I think the media sometimes help criminals get away with given TMI.
