An autopsy performed on a Nesmith woman found slain in her home Thursday evening revealed she had been shot several times in the back and head, Williamsburg County Coroner Harrison McKnight said.

Cora Brown, 53, was found dead in her Mingo Chandler Road home at about 9 p.m. by her brother.

Brown’s brother forced his way into her home and found her fatally wounded, according to Williamsburg County Sheriff’s office reports.

It is not immediately clear when Brown died, said McKnight.  She reported to work Monday and Tuesday, but was absent Wednesday and Thursday, he said.

Deputies continue to follow leads, but no arrests have been made, Williamsburg County Sheriff Kelvin Washington said.

Anyone with information about case is asked to call the Williamsburg County Sheriff’s office at (843) 355-6384 or Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (888) CRIME SC (274-6372). Callers need not reveal their identities.

This is an extremely sad sorry, I’ve known this lady for years, we attend the same church and have since like forever, shes my aunts best friend and she even lives down the street from me, I never in a million years would have thought something like that would happen to her. I hope whoever did this unthinkable act is caught and justice is served.
