Florence authorities have identified the body found on an overgrown lot Monday night as 17-year-old Juares Silriano.

Florence County Coroner M.G.  Bubba Matthews said Silriano’s body was sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy. The coroner’s office had not received the results of that autopsy by press time Wednesday.

Investigators received an anonymous tip Monday to search an overgrown lot on South Cashua Drive directly across from Walgreens. Florence police found Silriano’s body Monday night, Florence County Sheriff Kenney Boone said.

Deputies are investigating the incident and are trying to gather information about the events surrounding the teen’s death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Florence County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 665-2121 or, Crime Stoppers of the Pee Dee at (843) 667-TIPS (8477) or (866) 369-TIPS (8477). Callers need not reveal their identities.

Montgomery28 I have no intentions of letting you trick me into a war of words with you, I bet you are on every web forum that you can find on the internet, arguing different points with people. However I will humor you this one time. By saying we all thank you for shearing with us what I’m sure you and only you think that you are superior in knowledge to the rest of the world, however everyone else knows that you are just someone that knows very little about any thing but likes to talk a lot, (a know it all)! I bet you are either a cop the wife or husband of one, the mother or father of one or at the very least close to one.
Montgomery28, even without your superior knowledge I am very much AWAKE I do take a lot of precautions and yes I do own a gun. Now how I did all this without your help, I don’t know how but I did, I do however wish you did not own one (a gun), because obviously you are not aware that you can’t just shoot someone if they look a little suspicious, “God help anyone walking though your neighborhood that don’t live there, and God help you when you foolishly use it, (your gun)”. And yes Montgomery28, I am apart of the neighborhood watch except in my neighborhood you had better not let anyone know that you are because you maybe the next dead body the police find. Just one more thing, Montgomery28, I have never said a word about the cops and how well they do their jobs. I am just angered with our local news that this story did not get any more coverage than it did, scents I knew the boy that died and liked him, he did no harm to anyone and minded his own business, every time you seen him going to and from work he had a smile on his face, I have spoken with the investigators and they told me all that they could without jeopardizing the case and I know more about this than our local news dose or if they know more they sure did not think it was worthy to be printed . This should have been a front-page story, and it’s a shame that it wasn’t. You see Montgomery28, you don’t have a clue how awake I am, and yes I sleep better knowing that the police are on the job, but I sleep even better knowing that I have enough street smarts to defend myself, “not as much as you I’m sure but I get by…LOL” it takes them 20 minutes to get to my house, this not their fault, because they don’t have the funds to put more cars on the road. So yes I depend more on myself than I do them. “Enough said”

Now you shut up until you know what you are talking about!!!

From this point I will not waist my time replying to any of your foolish comments!!!

loyd - There is plenty of crime that goes on where I live and work. I just take precautions to protect myself and my family.  I know that there are plenty of idiots running around on the streets just waiting for the chance to rob, stab, & kill you or worse.  Have you ever thought about owning a gun????? You do know that you have the right to protect yourself and your property…don’t you???  You sound like some of the people I know that think if they turn off the TV the problems of the world will go away.  Like I said…WAKE UP!!!

I am sorry for this poor man’s family and friends.  And then, on top of this we have the older lady getting killed by known criminals who should have not been on the streets in the first place but that is a problem with the justice system in Columbia and Washington; not at a city or county level.  Our cops do a great job protecting us…don’t you sleep good at night too??  I send my sincere condolences to both of their families.

Until citizens take an active roll in crime prevention, things are only going to get worse.  You need to support your local law enforcement and present a united front and stick with it.

Momof4 – Same goes for you!

resortguy – It seems you & I are on the same page!

Montgomery28, resortguy this did not happen in your neighborhood did it? I bet you would yelling if had! People this way are worried if there is a killer a large, and that their son or daughter may be the next one they find in the woods some where. Yet the TV 13 and the Florence Morning News acts lack this is not news worthy

Momof4… so you have never talked to your husband or b/f while at work?  I’m feeling sooooo safe that you are on watch at night and keeping the streets safe from crime.  It’s easy to sit back and arm-chair quarterback the actions of law enforcement officers, but let’s see you get out there and do it.  This is an unfortunate occurance, at the very least, and I feel for the family of the deceased, but to expect the police to be everywhere at once is unrealistic.  Grab a clue, get some personal responsibility.  If everyone took the concept of personal responsibility seriously, we wouldn’t have these problems.  If you have such a bee in your bonnet over the whole thing, join a neighborhood watch program, or start something of your own.  Until you are actively participating in crime prevention, enjoy your comfortable little world and leave those that are actively involved in it alone.  ‘nuff said.  Oh, and my condolences to the victims family/friends, regardless of why it happened.. he could have been a real scum bag, but he was still somebodies son/brother/friend, etc.

People wake up & listen….the police can’t be every where, every minute of the day! I had previously said in a posting for another blog that we live in a very cruel world and people need to face it.  This is such a true fact!!  People are so naive to the world around them!!!!!!!

And, it is certainly true that if you depended on the media to learn of what ALL goes on; you would never know a quarter of the information and I do not understand that.  It looks like they would want the residents of the city & counties to know what kind of society we are living in.  We live in dangerous times and maybe they don’t want people to be so afraid; who knows?  Although, the reality is, Florence & surrounding areas are full of gangs, prostitutes, drug dealers and homeless people among many other bad situations.

The cops do the best they can but the crimes out numbers the cops.  If you want to personally pay a cop to sit at your house 24/7 to feel safe, then do it but stop putting the cops down!

momof4 – If the cops didn’t do the good job that they do perform; I bet you wouldn’t be sittin’ so high on your horse mouthing off about them while you and your family are safe and sleep well at night…would ya?????  If you or anyone else thinks they can sweep all the crime out of the city & county, please get off YOUR BUTT & DO IT!!!!

This is so sad and makes you wonder what really matters to the human race anymore, its more like them finding a dog dead in a lot than someones perious child!! But if it was a dog being mistreated that would be all over the news, instead this is swept behind the trash can, Makes you think before you even step outside anymore what are the police doing ? Sitting in some dark alley talking to the wife or g/f on the cell phone, riding around harrassing someone that isnt doing anything, the serious crimes and they cant be found, what does it take for them to get off their butts and start putting things in order? and dont anyone start yelling about what a good job any of them do!!! If they were doing such a good job then crime in florence wouldnt be as high as it has been

I am now wondering how much other news like this gets NO attention. It’s no wonder that our town’s news paper is so thin, yet they want a buck for it. I have heard all kinds of tales about this unpleasant incident, I guess we will never know what actually happen if we depend our local new to tell us.

I agree I had to SEARCH for this article…but oh the mayor race was front page!

Further more this wasnt a MAN…this was a 17 year old CHILD! I am completely angered that this has not been more seriously covered! A child was murdered and then days later a shooting with drugs involved happened within a mile from one another…and this isnt the TOP STORY every night??

I also agree that Ruby should clean that mess up! I mean seriously enough is enough.

I pray this family gets some sort of justice for this poor child’s death!

Hey
Leave Ruby alone. She is exercising her right to live as she pleases.I know it is an eyesorebut she pays alot of property taxes each year(more that you can imagine) so let her be. I also agree with loyd that this story should have recieved more coverage.

How is it that a car hitting a building gets more coverage than this story? A boy is dead, found in the woods, down from where I live, and I watch you news every night since it happened and all can hear about is you guys telling the same story about a storm that is not even heading our way. Are you guys that uninformed or is it because the boy was Hispanic?
