The Florence Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority gave back to the community Wednesday.

The sorority bought 200 books and then donated them to the Timmonsville Boys and Girls Club.

The books were for children from second grade through high school.

“These are brand new books so these kids are gonna be the first ones to open them up and everything and that’s what makes it even more special,“ said Chris Hobson, Director of the Timmonsville Boys and Girls Club.

“Today is a grand day because when we look on the faces of those young people who are receiving these books, it’s just a joy,“ said Henrietta P. Nelson, President of the Florence Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.

Hobson said the books that the Timmonsville Boys and Girls club had before the Delta Sigma Theta’s book donation Wednesday were old and worn.
